This year, all scholarships requests must be submitted and approved before you will be able to register so please allow time for submission and approval before the registration deadline.

For ASA league, age is determined as of January 1st, 2019. For 12U and 14U players, in addition to the ASA league play, ASA teams will also typically get to play in 2-3 tournaments. ASA teams are determined by player evaluations, not by school or last year's team. All ASA players must register for their correct age. Following assessments, exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis. 10U, 12U, and 14U player evaluations will be Saturday, March 16th.

Know someone else who may want to play this year? Please forward this email to anyone who may be interested.

TRYOUTS

The tryout process is overseen by the West Linn Softball Board with assistance from the varsity coaching staff of West Linn High School and the coaches of the tournament teams. Board members may be involved with player evaluation and team selection during the tryout process, however, team selection is at the discretion of the tournament team coach. 10-12 players are selected for each team, depending on the skill level, pitchers, and individual skills of each age level team each year.

What to Expect at Tryouts:

Upon arrival, each player/parent will confirm their registration. If a player is not registered, we will have a live laptop available for registration. Players will then receive tryout numbers to pin on their shirts during tryouts. It is important to keep track of these numbers - we will post teams using numbers, not player names. We will have uniforms for sizing and will ask all players to try on uniforms at the tryout. Once tryouts begin, parents will be asked to leave the area. Coaches work with the kids on drills and skill work as well as scrimmages, while multiple neutral observers assess their abilities. Tournament players will be informed by phone throughout the following week if they were selected for the tournament team. Anyone not selected will be placed on a rec level team, unless parents notify the registrar otherwise.

COACHES NEEDED

Besides needing many great energetic girls, we also need many great and energetic coaches. The programs and the players depend on many dedicated volunteers. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and to work with the girls. We will provide you the tools and resources tailored to the age group you are coaching. Please indicate your intention to coach or assistant coach on your daughter's registration but also make sure to officially register separately as a coach. Your commitment will help insure a successful program for more than your daughter. We look forward to a successful and exciting 2019 season. For questions or comments please email us at registrar@westlinnsoftball.org
